Turkish community in Springfield area to host Turkish bazaar, conference
The first event is a Turkish Bazaar, which will take place at the Turkish Cultural Center of Western Massachusetts, 540 Meadow Street Extension, Agawam. All profits from this event will be distributed to the “Raise an Orphan” in Haiti charity in conjunction with Embrace Relief, non-profit organization that brings together teams of volunteers to collaborate on humanitarian aid and disaster relief efforts.
Students from Turkish schools return to Romania with three medals
The 32nd Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (BMO 2015) was held in Athens on May 3-8. Six students from two Turkish schools participated in the competition. Stefan Spataru and Marius Bocanu got golden medals while Simona Diaconu won a silver medal. Three other medals, one silver and two bronzes were won by students studying at different schools in Romania.
Philanthropy key to peacebuilding and settlement of conflicts
The Journalists and Writers Foundation (GYV) and Is Anybody There? Association (KYM) jointly organized the conference titled “International Conference on Philanthropy and Peacebuilding” between April 12-13, 2014, with participants from 19 countries including Russia, the UK, India, Nigeria and the Philippines.

4 Turkish charity organizations on OCHA’s Nepal list
Four Turkish humanitarian aid organizations including Kimse Yok Mu, the Prime Ministry’s Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD), the Turkish Search and Rescue Team (AKUT) and GEA (Mother Earth) have been placed on the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs’ (OCHA) list of teams providing humanitarian aid in the devastating Nepal earthquake.
Kimse Yok Mu trains flood victim Pakistani women for a job
Kimse Yok Mu Foundation (KYM) continues to heal the wounds after the devastating flood in 2010 in Pakistan. The foundation earlier built the Ikbaliye town home to 296 families in the city of Muzaffargah. Now it’s offering vocational classes to the town’s women. 20 women received their certificates after completing 3 month-long sewing classes.
Gülen’s lawyers: PM’s only correct statement is that he visited Gülen
Lawyers representing Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen dismissed on Friday remarks made by Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu that Gülen rejected an invitation from Davutoğlu to return to Turkey on the grounds that “it was not time yet.”
