Philippine Minister of Education Armin Altamirano Luistro, attending a dinner organized by a Turkish foundation in Manila on Sunday evening, has invited more Turks to open new schools in his country. Sharing his feelings Mr. Luistro gave a message of intercultural dialogue. He said: “The speaker from Turkey Dr. Ahmet Muharrem Atlığ, is an Islamic religious scholar. And I am a Christian scholar. We talked about the same things during our speeches.
A large educational facility is being constructed on 14 acres of land by Turkish education volunteers in Bamako. While the construction of the school, which will be situated along the Niger River, is still in progress, the volunteers were delighted by the unexpected support from French coach Tigana for the education complex. Tigana first drastically reduced the price of the land and then promised to sponsor the construction of a computer lab in the school.
Yamanlar and Fatih Science High Schools won medals at the international physics, chemistry, biology and computer this summer as well. Sebahattin Kasap, CEO of Yamanlar Education Institutions, said; “207 out of 391 medals won so far at the international Olympiads by Turkish student won by Yamanlar Science High School students. We are happy to represent Turkey successfully”.
Mali’s Minister of Higher Education and Research Messaoud Ould Mohamed Lahbib: The Hizmet movement, which drives the philosophy behind Turkish schools in the country, does not work like a corporate organization. “This is why I am sure that God will give, and is giving, rewards to Turks,” he said. “The sacrifice being made by teachers who work at Turkish schools in his country is worthy of high praise, adding that he believes no other nation would be willing to make such a great contribution to Mali,” he said.
Students of the Kazakh-Turkish high schools for the past 20 years have gained many medals in international competitions. The President of Kazakhstan expressed his confidence that the graduates of “Katev” Fund would be highly qualified and would contribute to the economic development of the country as well as to strengthening of fraternal relations between Kazakhstan and Turkey.
Turkish schools in Indonesia organized an International Science Projects Olympiads in the country for the first time. Turkish schools affiliated with PASIAD, Pacific Social and Economic Solidarity Association, have been organizing national science Olympiads, ISPO, since they were founded.
