Senegalese Education Minister: I will send my daughter to Turkish schools

DAKAR
The Senegalese Minister of Education Mbaye Thiam paid a visit to Yavuz Sultan Selim Schools, founded by Turkish entrepreneurs and recognized highly across the country. Thiam said the schools, which produce champions annually in the nationwide university entrance exams, have had an indisputable success to date across the country.
The minister said the schools also introduced Turkey to Senegalese people. “I would like to send my daughter to these schools next year. The other private and public schools alike should take these schools as role models.”
Following a conference on health and hygiene at school environment, jointly organized by Cheikh Anta Diop University and Yavuz Selim Schools, the minister took a tour at Sultan School for Girls.
Established in 1997 by Turkish entrepreneurs, Yavuz Selim Schools currently offer education to over 2,000 students.

Managers of Gaziantep based Caliskan Group and South Africa based Sumo Coal, brothers Israfil and Semsettin Caliskan, have constructed a 500-student capacity school in Pretoria, the managerial capital of South Africa. The inauguration of Star College was performed by the minister of education of Gauteng province, Barbara Creecy, in an opening ceremony hosted by a former Fenerbahce midfielder Johan Moshoe.
Turkish school in Romania moves to new building
Spectrum Turkish School in Yas city of Romania moved to its new building on Tuesday with a ceremony. Turkish schools which have been operating in Romania for 21 years continue to develop. The school which has a capacity of 500 students gained new building.

Fethullah Gulen: I am not hiding and not on the run
Sherko Hama Amin, a member of the Kurdistan Parliament’s Education Committee, told NRT that schools should not be shut down over political reasons, especially a political issue outside the region. The Turkish government has previously, even before the July 15 military coup attempt, called on the KRG to close schools connected to the Gulen movement in the region.
