The Peace Islands Institute’s 5th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Award

The outstanding contribution of law enforcement officers was recognized at an award ceremony in Morristown, New Jersey.
The Peace Islands Institute’s 5th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Award united community members with law enforcement personnel.
According to Aaron Ford Special Agent in Charge with the FBI, such events and community input really help officers do a better job.
Among the recipients was Special Agent Daniel Garrabrant who was awarded for his rescue of victims of human trafficking and slavery.
Deputy Chief US Attorney in New Jersey Caroline Sadlowski was also awarded for her role in establishing a program that facilitates the transition of convicted felons after incarceration.
The Peace Islands Institute is a non-profit organization that unites different points of view in an atmosphere of mutual respect and acceptance, while fostering better insights into social problems.
Turkish Community Donates $40,000 To Sandy Damaged Gerritsen Library, Elementary School

On September 1, the American Booksellers Association joined American publishers, authors, and librarians in a letter urging President Obama to protest the widespread suppression of free speech in Turkey during his September 4 meeting with Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan in China.

Canada grants asylum to eight Gulenists under UN protection in Mongolia
Eight Turkish citizens whose passports were revoked by the Turkish government travelled to Canada on August 11 just after Canada decided to grant asylum. An officer from United Nations also escorted the group for the safe exit from Mongolia and security during the journey.
A Rabbi’s meeting with Hocaefendi Fethullah Gülen
This week I was privileged to spend the night at the Pennsylvania compound of Fethullah Gülen, the Sufi influenced Turkish modernist. I had two sessions to ask him questions in front of his followers and was allowed to sit in on his evening meeting with followers as well as attend his two-hour class for his disciples in the morning.
