Offensive launched against Hizmet-affiliated schools in Antalya
The Antalya Metropolitan Municipality, which earlier changed the zoning plans of schools in the province affiliated with the faith-based Hizmet movement in compliance with a call made by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in June, is to make a final decision on the fate of the schools following deliberation by the municipal commission on zoning and public works.

Arınç calls Gülen’s extradition request a ‘political move’

Hizmet-affiliated schools removed from private school incentive list
The Hizmet schools were in the original list of those institutions which met all the criteria for eligibility to receive financial incentives to accept these students. Announced on Monday, the schools were listed on the ministry’s website until Thursday afternoon, when they were taken off without any explanation. However, an official written notice sent from the ministry to governorates on Thursday said: “It was not deemed proper to give such incentives to education institutions whose managers are under fiscal investigation and interrogation within the scope of the Law No. 5549 on the Prevention of Laundering of Crime Revenues and those that had received punishments fiscal irregularities after due inspections before,” and asked the governorates do what the notice requires.
Eight trucks aid supplies for Serbia & Bosnia flood
Embrace Relief’s (located in NJ) sister organization Kimse Yok Mu and its search and rescue team ASYA took its place in Bosnia right after disaster happened. ASYA helped rescue many of the victims with rescue boats and its professional team who trapped on the floodwater. Embrace Relief raised 50,000 dollars for the victims of the disaster.
Gov’t discriminates against Hizmet-affiliated private schools
Some private schools affiliated with the Hizmet movement, a faith-based social movement inspired by Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, have been prevented from accessing government incentives. According to an official list published by the Education Ministry on Monday, many high-achieving private schools did not make the cut to be eligible for financial aid from the government.

Filipino military awards Turkish high school for peace initiatives
The Armed Forces of the Philippines have recognized the Filipino-Turkish Tolerance School in Zamboanga for their contribution to peace in the region. The award came after the Turkish high school in the Philippines gave support to people suffering from internal conflict in Mindanao, one of the islands of the Philippines, and provided 38,000 homeless people with humanitarian assistance.
Kimse Yok Mu’s volunteer doctors on their way for Africa
Kimse Yok Mu Foundation unceasingly continues its medical aid efforts for Africa. Joined by its volunteer doctors with an age average under 50, the foundation is set to provide medical assistance for Tanzanians starting from August 29 thru September 7. In cooperation with the Istanbul-based Ufuk Doctors’ Foundation (UHEK), the volunteers will focus mainly on surgeries. The medical team consists of 15 doctors, one nurse and two coordinators. The doctors will volunteer in gynecology, orthopedics, urology, general surgery, in particular, and neurology, dentistry, family practice, psychiatry and psychology departments.
