During the Islamic holiday of “Eid al-Adha” from October 15th-18th, 2013, the Peace Islands Institute (PII) paid visits to local Food Pantries with legislators to donate fresh meat to celebrate the eid so as to serve our NJ community, by remembering the poor during this holy season.

Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) is the time when Muslims sacrifice an animal, in remembrance of Forefather Abraham, to donate most of its meat to the needy. It is a festival with many social aspects: the pilgrimage, the sacrifice of an animal, remembering and helping the needy, and the reunion of visiting relatives, friends, and neighbors.

Sen. Anthony R Bucco and Asm. Anthony M. Bucco (District 25), Asw. Annette Quijano and Asm. Joseph Cryan (District 20), Sen. Loretta Weinberg and Asm. Gordon M. Johnson (District 37), and Assembly Speaker Asw. Sheila Y. Oliver and Asm. Thomas P. Giblin (District 34) joined the PII in this sacred effort.

Asm. Thomas P. Giblin (District 34) underlined the extreme generosity of the Peace Islands Institute during the observance of Eid al Adha and noted that this  demonstrated great community spirit and willingness to help families in need”

The Peace Islands donated and distributed fresh meat to each of the following Food Pantries:

1- Interfaith Food Pantry, Morris Plains NJ; Sen. Anthony R. Bucco and Asm. Anthony M. Bucco (District 25) joined the PII

2- Elizabeth Coalition to House the Homeless, Elizabeth NJ; Asw. Annette Quijano and Asm. Joseph Cryan (District 20)  joined the PII

3- Center for Food Action, Saddle Brook NJ; Sen. Loretta Weinberg and Asm. Gordon M. Johnson (District 37) joined the PII

4) St Peters Haven and Toni’s Kitchen, Clifton & Montclair; Assembly Speaker Sheila Y. Oliver and Asm. Thomas P. Giblin (District 34) joined the PII

Peace Islands Institute aspires to facilitate a forum of mutual respect and collaboration, both welcoming and accepting varied viewpoints and voices with the intent to develop original and alternative perspectives on vital issues that our society is facing, generate solutions to these issues, support successful practices, thus promoting education, friendship and harmony and acting as an island of peace for all peoples in a society of different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds.

PII also hopes to advance diversity, pluralism and multiculturalism in the society and lead the way for a transcultural generation in the future.

Kimse Yok Mu Foundation tasked its rescue team ASYA to the flood-ridden Bosnia. The foundation also delivered initially 75 million dollar assistance to the region, troubled with the most disastrous rainfall of the past 120 years.

Turkey Blessed with the Prayers of Tanzanian Orphans

Kimse Yok Mu volunteers visited 106 children living in an orphanage in the city of Dar es Salam and brought presents with them like bunk beds, blankets, clothing, food, stationery, and toys. In response to this charitable gesture, the orphanage directress prayed, “We are thankful to the Turkish people who have sent their aid all the way here from Turkey. May our Lord bless you with happiness in the Hereafter for all your help.

Turkic American Alliance’s iftar brought diplomats together in Washington DC
