Fethullah Gülen’s Message of Condolences for Greece Wildfire Incident
Date posted: July 26, 2018
I was deeply saddened by the news of the wildfires in Greece that took away the lives of at least 74 people.
I extend my sincere condolences to the families, relatives and friends of the deceased. I pray to God, the Most Compassionate, to provide perseverance for those who still are searching for their missing loved ones as well as those who continue the rescue and firefighting efforts.
Greeks have displayed great humanitarianism for thousands of refugees seeking safety. We consider them not only our neighbors of many centuries but also our brothers and sisters in the greater human family. During this difficult time, I urge everybody to support the people of Greece in overcoming these tragic wildfires.
Today on World Refugee Day, I join the global community in showing support for millions of refugees around the world who were displaced due to conflict and persecution and who are going through an extremely difficult journey as a result.

While President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called the Gülen sympathizers “viruses,” Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım labeled them microbes. The movement is the main target of a massive purge and witch-hunt in Turkey.

“It was so cold, it felt like an arrow through my heart”
Τhis situation (Persecutions by the Turkish government) made us leave our homeland. Why would people throw their children in to the fire, throw their children into the water? I want people to think of the reason behind, why all this is happening.
