Fethullah Gülen’s Message of Condolences for Greece Wildfire Incident
Date posted: July 26, 2018
I was deeply saddened by the news of the wildfires in Greece that took away the lives of at least 74 people.
I extend my sincere condolences to the families, relatives and friends of the deceased. I pray to God, the Most Compassionate, to provide perseverance for those who still are searching for their missing loved ones as well as those who continue the rescue and firefighting efforts.
Greeks have displayed great humanitarianism for thousands of refugees seeking safety. We consider them not only our neighbors of many centuries but also our brothers and sisters in the greater human family. During this difficult time, I urge everybody to support the people of Greece in overcoming these tragic wildfires.

In Berlin, inside a Gulen “light-house”
In recent years, the movement has received more scrutiny, not least after its long-time alley, Turkish President Erdogan, publicly split with the group, accusing it of infiltrating state institutions and even outright “terrorism”. Germany’s intelligence services disagree: In 2014, they published an assessment outlining that while some elements within the movement gave room for concern, they didn’t warrant an observation of the movement.
