Turkish Olympiad held in Philippines enchants audience

Turkish Olympiad and a culture festival, held jointly by Philippian Tourism Ministry and Turkish schools in Philippines, impressed the audience a lot with performances of the students.
Students from Fountain International Turkish School and Tolerance International Turkish School competed in three areas; sing, poem and folk dance. During the event, Maria Rowena Sanchez who is Philippian ambassador to Turkey, made a speech. “This program, held by the people from different language, religion and culture, shows us what is important is love in heart not the differences among us,” said Sanchez adding that he extended his thanks to devoted teachers in Turkish schools.
Students performed well-known Turkish songs during the event and performed folk dances successfully. At the end of the show, audiences expressed their pleasure with the performances of the students.
Nigerian govt reacts to planned deportation of 1000 Turks
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama has refuted reports that 1,000 Turks will be extradited from Nigeria on the request of the Turkish government. Onyeama assured all foreign nationals, including Turks resident in the country legally, of full protection under Nigerian and International Laws.
Mongolian teacher Galimbek Sharivkhan, who died in a car accident in South Africa on Saturday, has become a trending topic on Twitter with the hashtag #MoğolistanınAdemTatlısı (Mongolia’s Adem Tatlı) making the social networking site’s trending topics lists for the world and Turkey on Saturday night. Sharivhan was a teacher in Johannesburg at one of the Turkish schools established by educational volunteers affiliated with the faith-based Hizmet movement, inspired by the teachings of Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen.
Unexpected consequences [of prep schools in Turkey]
The hottest debate in Turkey today is about the abolishment or, officially, the “transformation” of the private university prep schools. These are private enterprises. They are not schools but provide additional education to high school students to increase their ability to succeed in the nationwide university exams held every year.
Kurdistan Regional Gov’t: Gulen-inspired schools will not be closed
There are 20 schools serving to 12,719 students in Northern Iraq Kurdish Region. Kurdistan Regional Government announced that the 20 schools affiliated with the Gulen movement will not be shut down. There were rumors in the media, in the aftermath of the coup attempt on July 15, about the closure of the Gulen inspired schools.

President Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey has changed tactics in his efforts to make foreign governments close schools run by Hizmet Movement associates, otherwise called Turkish schools.
Ambassadors uneasy over Erdoğan’s orders concerning graft probe
Turkey’s ambassadors have expressed displeasure over Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s remarks that called on them to “tell the truth” to their foreign interlocutors, saying that defending the government against corruption allegations in not the ambassadors’ business.
