The Alliance for Shared Values strongly condemns the terrorist attacks in Paris. We stand united with the people of France and with people around the world in mourning the loss of innocent lives and offering our deepest condolences to the families.

We honor the victims by strengthening our commitment to peace, tolerance and mutual respect.

Before the wounds from the brutal attack in Paris are healed, terrorism resurfaced with all its atrocity in Vienna, claiming the lives of four innocent people and leaving many others injured. I send my heartfelt condolences to the people of Austria, especially the relatives and loved ones of those who lost their lives. I pray for the quick recovery of the injured.

Fethullah Gulen Issues Strong Condemnation of ISIS

As a practicing Muslim deeply influenced by tenets of my faith, I strongly condemn the brutal atrocities of the ISIS terrorist group. Their actions are a disgrace to the faith they proclaim and are crimes against humanity. Religion provides a foundation upon which to establish peace, human rights, freedoms and the rule of law. Any interpretations to the contrary, including the abuse of religion to fuel conflicts, are simply wrong and deceitful.

Countering Al Qaeda’s Message

Important literature from mainstream Muslim scholars in Pakistan (Muhammad Tahir-ul Qadri), Turkey (Fethullah Gulen), and elsewhere, which claim terrorists are not real Muslims, has yet to be translated, disseminated, or publicized more broadly in the Arab world, Somalia, Mali, or indeed Kenya. Al Qaeda’s extremists are all too ready to lampoon the majority of the world’s Muslims as infidels.

Saturday is a sad moment in Turkish history as it marks one year since the deplorable coup attempt that resulted in the death of hundreds and injuries of thousands.
