TODAY’S ZAMAN, İSTANBUL Turkish charity foundation Kimse Yok Mu (Is Anybody There) has launched an aid campaign for the people of the Gaza Strip, where 166 Palestinians were killed during a recent conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Members of the foundation have distributed food, blankets and household goods as well as other items to the victims in Gaza since the start of the campaign, titled “Şimdi Gazze’de Yaraları Sarma Zamanı” (Now It’s Time to Relieve the People in Gaza). The foundation has recently delivered aid amounting to TL 200,000 to the Gazans.
Kimse Yok Mu has repaired houses that were damaged during the eight-day-long conflict in Gaza. The foundation has not forgotten about children, delivering 1,750 liters of milk along with 1,215 packages of diapers to families with children.
The aid foundation also extended a helping hand to the people in Gaza via Egypt in previous years. During the Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Fitr feasts of 2011, Kimse Yok Mu provided a total of $500,000 in relief to the people in Palestine.
Karınca Yuvası (Ant Nest) from Turkish designers to Bangladeshi orphans
Eleven designers came together at a recent charity event coordinated by fashion designer Esra Seziş and actor Taylan Güner. There, they made a unanimous decision that each designer would create three pieces for auction, the revenue from which would be donated to orphans in need. They called this pact Karınca Yuvası (Ant Nest). The intention was sincere, and the results were magnificent.
Kimse Yok Mu invited for consultation before UN summit
Turkey-based charity organization Kimse Yok Mu (Is Anyone There?), which has been a target of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government’s unjust smear campaigns, has now been invited to an exclusive meeting ahead of the UN’s World Humanitarian Summit.
Kimse Yok Mu President: We are not leaving Somalia
Kimse Yok Mu Foundation President Ismail Cingoz announced: “We are not leaving Somalia because of the terrorist attacks targeting Turkey.” Cingoz had talked to the volunteers in Somalia once again before the announcement. He reported they were grieved at the terrorists attacks but felt no concerns or fears as they knew the condition the country was in when they first arrived. He further stated that they will carry on with their services against all the odds.
Kimse Yok Mu reaches out to tin houses of South Africa
Kimse Yok Mu recently distributed the Ramadan aid donated by Turkish people in tin house neighborhoods of South Africa. Children were too overjoyed by candy and balloon treats distributed as a part of the aid under the auspices of Johannesburg Horizon Turkish School. In addition to the aid packages for tin house neighborhoods, some five hundred locals are being hosted daily at iftar dinners at ground level halls of Nizamiye Mosque.
