Turkish aid organization Kimse Yok Mu opened a school on Saturday in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia.
Orhan Erdoğan, coordinator of the aid organization’s East African operations, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony in which he pledged continued support for the refurbished school in its mission to provide Somali children with an education in Turkish, Arabic and other subjects.

Romanian-Turkish Schools gear up for flood survivors
Romanian-Turkish Schools’ students donated their pocket money for the past month’s flood survivors in the eastern Romania. Moreover, the students delivered the aid in person to those living in trailer houses. The aid recipients who lamented desolation more than the sufferings the flood caused were in tears upon receiving the supplies.
People happy in town Kimse Yok Mu helped build
Kimse Yok Mu has been operating in Pakistan since October 2005, when an earthquake devastated the north of the country. The foundation has so far dug 178 wells in Pakistan, and there are 86 wells currently under construction. Across Pakistan, 800,000 people benefit from the clean water provided by the foundation and its donors. The total aid provided by Kimse Yok Mu to the people of Pakistan exceeds $30 million.
Why should education in Pakistan be held hostage to the politics of other countries, however brotherly?
If Pakistan does indeed give in to pressure from the Turkish government, the move will be ironic, given the number of madressahs currently operating in the country with established links to political, religious or denominational movements that have a more than suspected record of terrorism, violence and spurious religious indoctrination.
