I am shocked and deeply saddened by the outbreak of violence on the Gaza border, which resulted in the death of more than 50 and injury of thousands more.
I urge Israel to stop shooting at civilians and to respect the right to peaceful protest. The protection of civilians and children should be ensured to prevent more casualties. This incident only reinforces the need to raise the social consciousness all around the world so that every human life is valued equally and every person is committed to the dignity of all members of the human family.
I extend my deepest condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones, and I pray for the quick recovery of the injured. I pray to God, the Most Compassionate, to lead the world to days of peace and tranquility when people can live with mutual understanding and respect.

This means the [Gulen] movement’s Islamic core is intertwined with an internalization of Western Weberian and Calvinist worldviews, highlighting the interconnectedness of religious principles and economic applications, believing, in the spirit of Capitalism, that socioeconomic prosperity is the most favorable way to bring about and reflect God’s pleasure.
Which is the bigger threat, Turkey’s coup or Erdogan’s response?
Erdogan’s counter-coup may do more to change Turkish politics than the coup plotters ever sought, completing the country’s transformation from secular democracy to what’s fast becoming the new favorite government for aspiring dictators — one where the media is strictly controlled, conformity is entrenched through the schools, elections bring little change, and presidents can rule for life.

Remarkably, President Erdogan has zero evidence to back up his charge that Mr. Gülen was behind the failed coup. If extradited to Turkey, Mr. Gülen would appear before a kangaroo court and be sentenced to death.
