Fethullah Gülen’s Message of Condolences for Those Who Lost Their Lives During Gaza Protests

I am shocked and deeply saddened by the outbreak of violence on the Gaza border, which resulted in the death of more than 50 and injury of thousands more.
I urge Israel to stop shooting at civilians and to respect the right to peaceful protest. The protection of civilians and children should be ensured to prevent more casualties. This incident only reinforces the need to raise the social consciousness all around the world so that every human life is valued equally and every person is committed to the dignity of all members of the human family.
I extend my deepest condolences to the victims’ families and loved ones, and I pray for the quick recovery of the injured. I pray to God, the Most Compassionate, to lead the world to days of peace and tranquility when people can live with mutual understanding and respect.
Fethullah Gulen: Erdogan is not Fit to be President
Legal experts discussed Erdogan’s eligibility to serve as president, because of questions about his college education. Other have questioned the fairness of the elections and there are allegations of electoral fraud. But aside from this, if the Turkish people elect a shepherd as their leader, I respect their choice. But personally I don’t see Erdogan is fit to be president.

Responding to the allegation that the Hizmet community is behind the investigation, and to a broader one suggesting that the Hizmet movement is fighting the AKP government, both Mr. Gülen himself and the Journalists and Writers Foundation (GYV), based in İstanbul, denied any such motivation or involvement. Furthermore, they invited the state authorities to prove those allegations, and take legal action if any evidence is found substantiating them. Mr. Gülen’s lawyer condemned and rejected the allegations as an attempt to divert public attention away from the massive bribery scandal and defame his client.

I also condemn President Erdogan’s reckless and immoral efforts to defame this peaceful movement that has dedicated itself to universal humanitarian values. I trust in the wisdom and fairness of world leaders to recognize this defamation campaign for what it is.

The Turkish government has been inching ever closer to becoming an Islamist nation, abandoning its secularity that has acted as the foundation of modern Turkey until now. The government’s power is also getting increasingly concentrated in the hands of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
