The Eskişehir Samanyolu Gülbahar Anatolian High School, whose students won two gold, three silver and two bronze medals, has ranked first in the Infomatrix Asia and Pacific Olympics held in Kazakhstan.
A total of 1,500 projects, which were developed by students from 33 countries in five categories, were in competition for medals in the Olympics.
Students of the Eskişehir Samanyolu Gülbahar Anatolian High School — inspired by the Gülen or Hizmet movement that is based on teachings of Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen — won medals in the Hardware Control, Computer Art and Robotic categories. Ayşe Beyza Abacı won a gold medal in the Robotic category, while Fatma Aygül Keskin won a gold medal in the Hardware Control category.
Turkish Schools inspired by Gulen becoming global brands
At the first session of the conference, Nigeria’s and Africa’s problem of education as well as the solutions that the Turkish Schools, inspired by Gulen’s philosophy, offer to these problems were discussed.
‘Gülen movement has a specific mission’
… If the [Fethullah] Gülen movement were a small, ineffective community, the AKP would never have disturbed it. Or if the Gülen movement had acted in full cooperation with the government, such a conflict wouldn’t have occurred. But the Gülen movement has a specific mission. What is that mission? They seek to obtain the pleasure of God by leading good religious lives and engaging in educational and social services.

Zaman school [in Cambodia] resists call for closure
Zaman school officials and parents yesterday urged the Cambodian government not to shutter the schools as the Turkish Ambassador to Cambodia Ilhan Tug has requested, saying students will ultimately suffer. Officials would also need to consider legal and administrative procedures, and so far, the schools have not violated any Cambodian law or regulation, he said.
