The Eskişehir Samanyolu Gülbahar Anatolian High School, whose students won two gold, three silver and two bronze medals, has ranked first in the Infomatrix Asia and Pacific Olympics held in Kazakhstan.
A total of 1,500 projects, which were developed by students from 33 countries in five categories, were in competition for medals in the Olympics.
Students of the Eskişehir Samanyolu Gülbahar Anatolian High School — inspired by the Gülen or Hizmet movement that is based on teachings of Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen — won medals in the Hardware Control, Computer Art and Robotic categories. Ayşe Beyza Abacı won a gold medal in the Robotic category, while Fatma Aygül Keskin won a gold medal in the Hardware Control category.

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu stated he had ordered the closure of Turkish schools in 160 countries, arguing that the officials of those schools had sent letters to the leaders of foreign countries in which they complained about the Turkish government. The closure of these schools is a serious step, but the reason for the closure is not based on real evidence.
Students from 70 countries celebrate graduation in Turkey
Turkish Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON) Chairman Rızanur Meral, Journalists and Writers Foundation (GYV) Chairman Mustafa Yeşil and writers Reşit Haylamaz and Mehmet Akar attended the graduation ceremony of international students who had come to Turkey from nearly 70 countries.
Reps urge Federal Govt to intervene in Nigerian students’ detention in Turkey
Abuja – The House of Representatives on Tuesday urged the Federal Government to quickly intervene and ensure the rescue of 50 Nigerian students detained by Turkish government. According to Rep. Aminu Suleiman, the Turkish Ambassador in Nigeria had requested the Nigerian authorities to close down 17 Turkish schools in Nigeria for alleged link with Hizmet movement.
