Philippine House speaker receives Turkish school delegation

Feliciano Belmonte, speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives, received in his office Malik Gencer, general manager of Fountain Schools, Ferhat Kazkondu, president of Pacific Dialogue Foundation and Merve Ozkan, Turkish Olympics coordinator in the Philippines.
The delegation members briefed Belmonte on the Turkish school’s activities and the language olympics. Belmonte said, “With the schools you’ve opened here, you gave us the opportunity to get to know Turks and their culture better.”
The delegation invited the speaker to the Philippines finals of the Turkish Olympics on Feb. 26. Belmonte hailed the olympics and said, “These events bringing together diverse languages, faiths and cultures show us differences do not matter but the love in our hearts does. Its contribution to the global peace is priceless.”
At the end of the meeting, the delegation presented a Kutahya porcelain plate to the speaker, as a memento of the day.

Gülen calls on followers to adapt to PM’s teaching center closures

After the attempted coup, college professors have been hit especially hard, thanks to Gülen’s popularity inside Turkish higher education. Turks were encouraged to report Gülen’s followers to the government. Universities have been ordered to establish 7-8 member committees looking into anti-government activities of the faculty and administration.

Hizmet-affiliated schools removed from private school incentive list
The Hizmet schools were in the original list of those institutions which met all the criteria for eligibility to receive financial incentives to accept these students. Announced on Monday, the schools were listed on the ministry’s website until Thursday afternoon, when they were taken off without any explanation. However, an official written notice sent from the ministry to governorates on Thursday said: “It was not deemed proper to give such incentives to education institutions whose managers are under fiscal investigation and interrogation within the scope of the Law No. 5549 on the Prevention of Laundering of Crime Revenues and those that had received punishments fiscal irregularities after due inspections before,” and asked the governorates do what the notice requires.
