Fethullah Gülen’s Message of Condolences for the Death of Soccer Star, Diego Maradona

I learned with grief about the death of Maradona, one of the well-known names of the world sports community.
It is very important that individuals who are successful and influential in their professional careers take part in social projects and contribute to solving common problems. Maradona will be remembered as a supporter of numerous charity projects. He participated in the “soccer stars match” organized by the Journalists and Writers Foundation in 1995 for the children of Bosnia-Herzegovina who saw the painful face of the war and he took an active part in sharing this pain with the world.
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.) said, “The best of people is the one who benefits people.” In this regard, even after Maradona ended his active soccer life, he continued his activities; he participated in charity soccer matches to contribute to the fight against poverty and hunger, made donations to hospitals that provide healthcare services to Covid patients, and supported many charitable organizations.
I extend my condolences to his family, relatives and loved ones and I hope that he will always be remembered by his contributions to humanity.
GYV’s Istanbul Summit and Peace Projects presented in New York

They have been to countries with large Muslim populations in the Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Central Asia (Kazakhstan) and countries with large Christian populations in Europe (Poland, Romania). The research has taken them to between three and five Hizmet schools in Almaty, Astana, Bucharest, Sarajevo, Tirana and Warsaw resulting in nearly 300 interviews.

In the interview that was published at one of Russia’s most popular newspapers, Moskovskiy Komsomolets, Mr. Gülen talked about the aircraft crisis between Russia and Turkey, the divided state of the Muslim world, secularism, the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and terrorism. “Certain things done [the Turkish government] in recent years were wrong. The downing of that warplane was wrong,” he said.

On the hot evening of August 20 in Gaziantep, Turkey, a still-unidentified person wearing an explosive vest laced with ball bearings navigated a series of narrow alleyways in the city’s Akdere neighborhood. He approached a wedding put on by a Kurdish family from Siirt; they were hosting a Henna night, a traditional ritual where the hands of the bride-to-be are tattooed with temporary ink. At 10:50 pm, the young man’s bomb exploded, killing 54 people. At least 31 were under the age of 18.

Şükür’s resignation is a sign that to him, that photo was torn up. If the government continues to keep up its hostile attitude against the Hizmet movement led by Gülen, millions will experience the same feeling. The real risk is here.
