10-year-old girl dies in traffic accident while on way to visit to imprisoned father

10-year-old girl of an imprisoned man named Ali Osman Özcan died in a traffic accident while on her way to visit the father in an Elazig prison on Monday.
Betül Seda Özcan, 10, hit the road along with her mother from Kocaeli province to visit her father in a closed prison in Elazig during Eid-Al-Fitr holiday.
When they reached the intersection near the prison in Elazig, Betul Seda let her mother’s hand go in excitement to see her father. She was struck by a car trying to cross the road.
Betul Seda was taken in an ambulance to Firat University Hospital where she later died.
According to media, the father Ali Osman has been, for 6 months, under arrest over his links to the Gulen movement, which the government accuses of masterminding the July 15, 2016 coup attempt. The latter denies involvement in the failed coup.
Gulen-associated businesses inside Turkey have already been “punished.” Several pundits have told Al-Monitor they do not expect TUSKON-related businesses, particularly Asia Bank, to survive another year.

Former director of Turkish schools in Pakistan and his family kidnapped
Former director of Pak-Turk Schools in Pakistan Mesut Kaçmaz and his family were reportedly kidnapped in Lahore on Wednesday, the Daily Pakistan reported. Another person, Fatih Avcı, who was also abducted and later released, said their heads were covered with bags.

40,000 people reported to authorities for being Gülen followers since July 15
As many as 40,000 people have been reported to the Ankara Police Department for being followers of the Gülen movement since a failed coup attempt on July 15. Although the movement strongly denies having any role in the corruption probe and the coup attempt, the government accuses it of having masterminded both despite the lack of any tangible evidence.

Three people were taken into custody by security forces on Monday for asking Interior Minister Efkan Ala questions about Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen and the settlement process to end the Kurdish issue.
