Turkish schools which have been operating in Romania for 20 years, were awarded with a certificate of excellence by Romanian Education Minister Remus Pricopie on Wednesday.

A reception was held at Bucharest Crowne Plaza on Wednesday evening on the occasion of 20 th founding year of the schools, established by Lumina Education Institute. During the ceremony, Pricopie presented the institute certificate of excellence for the success of the schools.

Speaking during the event the minister stated that his son studies at the one of the Turkish schools and Lumina Education Institute serves as an model for other schools in Romania. “I looked at the list of the students who will be awarded for their success at international competitions. A significant proportion of those students study at these schools. This indicates how seriously the students prepare,” said Pricopie.

Following Pricopie, head of Lumina Education Institute Fatih Gürsoy said Romania has collected 530 medals from the competitions by the students of Turkish schools in 20 years.

Another speaker at the reception, senator Marian Vasile stated that he hopes students who graduate from Turkish schools will instruct thousands of students.

Bucharest Governor Paul Nicolae Petrovan also praised the schools saying that the schools reunite people through culture and education. “What you are doing reinforces struggle of goodness against evil,” said Petrovan referring to the schools.

The faith-based Hizmet movement runs a wide network of schools and more than 2,000 educational establishments in more than 140 countries around the world. These schools aim to provide a quality education to thousands of students and are well known for their achievements in International Science Olympiads.
