Turkish humanitarian NGO has cured 30,000 cataract sufferers
A campaign by Turkish NGO Kimse Yok Mu has fixed the eyes of over 30,000 people with cataracts in central Africa.

Kimse Yok Mu, a Turkish NGO delivering humanitarian aid around the world, has so far cured 30,180 people suffering from cataracts in Sudan, Chad, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo and Niger as of September 2014. Kimse Yok Mu’s cataract campaign seeks to eventually cure hundreds of thousands in the area.
Speaking to reporters at the Çorum Private Samanyolu Highschool, where students were offering their support for the cataract campaign as well as other similar social responsibility projects, Kimse Yok Mu’s Çorum branch director Erkal Aykaç explained how cataracts were common in Africa because of the intensity of the sun, malnutrition and dust storms. “Over 2 million people with cataracts are going hungry or suffering from malnutrition in just Sudan’s Darfur region alone,” explained Aykaç, “a large portion of whom will lose their sight completely without even having an opportunity for treatment.”

The Alevi issue is the key theme of this year’s Abant Platform, which started on Dec. 13 by way of the organization efforts of the Gülen Movement-affiliated Journalists and Writers Foundation (GYV). The three-day meeting which has gathered intellectuals from various ideological camps came at a time when tension between the government and the movement has become extremely visible in the eyes of the public due to the former’s plans of “transforming” the private “cram schools.”
Turkish people’s aid reaches out to Chad through Kimse Yok Mu
Abundance and blessings of the month Ramadan have reached out to Chad –one of the poorest African countries- in the form of Turkish people’s aid for orphans and the needy. KYM has delivered aid, in particular, to orphanages and foundations for the handicapped and widows in this central African country. 5,400 people have been provided iftar dinner at particularly at orphanages and handicapped facilities.
Food and fun abound at Turkish Festival
Alamo Plaza was alive with music and food, Saturday, for the annual Turkish Festival. The free event celebrated different aspects of the Turkish culture including folk dance, the performing arts and authentic cuisine. This year’s theme was San Antonio Goes Turkish.

Kimse Yok Mu offers much-needed help in Gaza
Since the start of the offensive, the Kimse Yok Mu foundation has worked to bring in much-needed aid and assistance, and it is still a point of hope for many of those whose lives were shaken by the conflict. The organization has so far helped bring food, supplies and medicine to local hospitals, and it has recently provided around $500,000 in aid.
