Fethullah Gulen has said that he deplores the brutal atrocities being committed by the terrorist group hiding behind a false religious rhetoric.

He noted that the terrorists are either “completely ignorant” of the spirit of Islam and its messenger, or their actions are designed to serve their individual interests or those of their “political masters.”
The scholar also sent his condolences to the families and friends of the deceased in Iraq and Syria, and to the family and friends of slain journalist James Foley.
An influential author, Gulen topped the Foreign Policies 100 Global Thinkers list in 2008, he currently resides in rural Pennsilvania.
British Lords introduced to Fethullah Gülen’s concepts
Lord Ahmed, in his inauguration speech, described Gülen as “an Islamic scholar with a new and modern vision” and stressed that the movement inspired by Gülen’s thoughts has enabled Muslim Turks to internalize values such as democracy, human rights, pluralism and mutual respect. He also noted that the Gülen movement had a positive influence on British Muslim youth by preventing them from engaging in any radical groups.
ICG report praises reformist role Hizmet plays in [Kurdish] settlement process
A recent report released by the International Crisis Group (ICG) on Turkey’s efforts to address the Kurdish issue has praised the positive role the faith-based Hizmet movement plays in the settlement process. Symposium concludes: Hizmet (Gulen) Movement Contributes to World Peace
Professors said that Hizmet is an anti-violence group that uses education and dialogue to achieve its goals. One of the highlights of the symposium was Dr. Martha Kirk’s presentation called Iraqi Women of Three Generations. There are 32 Hizmet schools in Iraq and she said these institutions teach Iraqi women self confidence.
