UN praises Kimse Yok Mu for aid efforts in Somalia

Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) John Ging said in an interview on Thursday that Kimse Yok Mu and other Turkish NGOs’ aid efforts in Somalia should be praised.
On a three-day visit to Somalia, Ging talked to the Cihan News Agency and said that Turkish NGOs are doing a great job in Somalia.
“During my visit to Somalia, I have had the chance to meet with some Turkish NGO officials. Turkish camps in Somalia have the highest standards and everybody knows this. They are doing a great job in the fields of healthcare, education and food aid. We, as the UN, appreciate the work that they are doing,” Ging said.
Kimse Yok Mu, which now reaches out to different regions of the world affected by catastrophes, is recognized by the Republic of Turkey as an association that works for the public interest. The status was accorded by Cabinet decree No. 2006-9982 on Jan. 19, 2006, with the approval of the president at the time.
The group, which serves people in need all over the world, has not forgotten about the Syrians in Turkey. Reaching 4,000 people daily, the mobile soup kitchen has fed 3.12 million refugees over the course of three years.

Academics sign statement saying ‘rule of law suspended’
Professor Ayhan Aktar, Professor Ersin Kalaycıoğlu and Professor Yasemin İnceoğlu, as well as 147 other academics, signed a statement saying that the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government cannot ignore corruption allegations by making up claims of a “parallel state” — which has no meaning in political science or law — and placing all responsibility of unlawful acts on the Hizmet movement, which was inspired by Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen.
Kimse Yok Mu reached out to 1 million people in Eid al-Adha
Volunteers of Kimse Yok Mu aid organization welcomed by minister in the many countries which they went to hand out meat to the needy families. In Guinea, Niger and Mali, ministers coordinated the aid and also some ministers joined the aid delivery to the needy families. In Guinea, Interior Ministry Botche Cande coordinated the aid as well as Minister of Family and Social Policies, Sanaba Kaba, he himself handed out meat packages.
