D.C. Group Holds Annual Peace and Dialogue Dinner in Albemarle

A group focused on spreading peace shared its mission with some community leaders Thursday night in Albemarle County.
The Rumi Forum held its Annual Peace and Dialogue Dinner at the Doubletree Hotel.
Senator Creigh Deeds was the keynote speaker. He addressed issues from sequestration to the importance of discussing cultural differences.
The Rumi Forum president says he hopes the dinner will bridge cultural gaps.
“The gist of it is to bring people that don’t know one another around the table and to meet with one another, have a nice meal and hopefully that will be a catalyst for further social interaction beyond the actual dinner,” said Emre Celik, president of the Rumi Forum.
Charlottesville Vice Mayor Kristin Szakos gave the final remarks of the night.
Fethullah Gulen and Gulen Movement Discussed at German Symposium
The Intercultural Dialog Association in Cologne organized a symposium titled “Fethullah Gulen who Encourages the Dialog Studies”. At a weekend in Cologne, many academics, members of the parliament, representatives of some NGO’s, Turks and Germans attended the symposium.

We realized it was not only millions of people in Turkey but also the world who were paying attention to what Gülen had to say. The interest in the Gülen interview also confirmed the universal dimension and vision of the Hizmet movement.
Message to the conservative intellect on the Armenian issue
Even the thought of an Ottoman massacre, lead them to a knee jerk reaction, as it contradicts with everything the conservative intellect is built upon. Although they believe that they’re defending their identity and history, just on contrary they’re defending a minority, which fought with this history and identity. So the conservative intellect better think about the fundamentals of the issue.
