Fethullah Gulen: Gulen: The issuance of an arrest warrant from a Turkish court changes nothing about my status or my views.

A court Istanbul has issued on Thursday arrest warrant against Fethullah Gulen for a coup attempt on July 15, 2015;  the Islamist scholar lives in the US as legal resident on self-imposed exile.

The mandate approved at the request of the Prosecutor of Istanbul.

Gulen issued the below statement regarding the arrest warrant against himself:

“The issuance of an arrest warrant from a Turkish court changes nothing about my status or my views. I have repeatedly condemned the coup attempt in Turkey and denied any knowledge or involvement. It is well-documented the Turkish court system is without judicial independence, so this warrant is yet another example of President Erdogan’s drive authoritarianism and away from democracy.”

The Alliance for Shared Values tweeted Mr. Gulen’s statement. The AFSV serves as a voice for dialogue organizations affiliated with Hizmet, a civil society movement inspired by prominent preacher and peace advocate Fethullah Gülen. Based in New York, the Alliance strives to promote peace and to eliminate prejudice and discrimination against any or all ethnic, cultural and religious communities. Fethullah Gulen: I consider the coup attempt as a serious “terror coup”

The events of that night [the coup attempt] could be called as a serious terror coup. I categorically reject such accusations. The claim that I convinced the 8th biggest army in the world from 6000 miles away against its own government is an incredible slander. I would like those who are responsible for this coup attempt, regardless of their identities, to receive the punishment they deserve after a fair trial.
