Kimse Yok Mu (Is Anybody There), one of the largest charity organizations in Turkey, distributed the meat of sacrificed animals to needy families in Aceh with the participation of Korean and Malay volunteers on Monday.

Extending humanitarian aid in more than 100 countries in the world, Kimse Yok Mu continued its activities in Aceh region of Indonesia with meat distribution at this year’s Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) — a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year in which an animal is sacrificed and a portion of the meat is donated to the less fortunate.

Foreign people from different charity organizations in South Korea and Malaysia participated in distribution of meat. Following the activity, one of the Korean volunteers named Gong Yun-hee told Cihan news agency that they had chance to have feeling of helping each other and to see how such a organizations are carried out.

Another volunteers named Yun Yelim said she is very pleased to have participated in such an activity. Yun added such charity organizations are unfortunately has decreased in South Korea in the last few years.

During Eid al-Adha, animals are slaughtered as a reminder of the Prophet Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael to God as an act of obedience and submission. A portion of the meat is then distributed to the poor, along with other charitable donations, as per Islamic tradition.

Last year, Kimse Yok Mu sacrificed 60,000 animals — the cost of which was met by donations — in 43 countries, including Somalia, Pakistan, Palestine and Ethiopia, and delivered sacrificial meat to 179,043 families in those countries. The organization also distributed sacrificial meat to 58,309 families around Turkey.
