Journalists and Writers Foundation to discuss girls’ education in Afghanistan

The Journalists and Writers Foundation (GYV) is due to hold a panel on the topic of education of Afghan girls, in New York City on March 18.
The panel will be held within the framework of the 58th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, which will be dedicated to the Afghanistan’s struggles and progress toward educating girls. They will consider global political efforts to improve the education of girls, specifically how public and private institutes might enable the girls to pursue and complete their education. In addition, the panel will host various experts who have been studying the educational situation of girls in Afghanistan.
Two speakers joining the panel as United Nations representatives will talk about the projects and brief the audience about the educational targets established by the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). GYV is also planning to sponsor an educational project to contribute to Afghan-Turkish colleges in Afghanistan.

GYV’s Istanbul Summit and Peace Projects presented in New York
A reception was held by the Journalists and Writers Foundation (GYV) on September 30, 2013 in New York to promote its two international projects, Istanbul Summit and Peace Projects. Numerous representatives to the United Nations (UN) who came to New York to attend the 68th UN General Assembly meeting as well as journalists, academics and foreign diplomats were hosted at the GYV office on the 5th Avenue.
Call for paper for “International Family Policy Conference”
The Journalists and Writers Foundation is organizing the third international family conference, “International Family Policies”, in order to analyze different kind of legal formulations to protect family as an “institution” across different countries. Conference aims to prioritize policy-oriented articles together with academic and descriptive ones.
A Year After Hurricane Sandy: Climate Change & Disaster Management
The Peace Islands Institute (PII) held a discussion panel on October 28, titled “A Year After Hurricane Sandy: Climate Change and Disaster Management” in order to raise awareness on climate change and disaster management, to highlight disaster management planning, to explore effective ways to respond to natural disasters during and after emergency and to handle the emergency situations.
Turkic Cultural Exchange and Community Dialogue
Nearly seventy-five legislators and staff attended the annual Turkic cultural reception at the State Capitol, hosted by Niagara Foundation. The event awarded attendees and guests with the chance to dialogue with lawmakers over a buffet of Turkish food and coffee on topics of interfaith, multiculturalism and global acceptance.
