Chief Minister inaugurates housing units for flood affectees

Islamabad—A Turkish NGO, Kimse Yok Mu Solidarity and Aid Association headquartered at Istanbul, has built housing units to accommodate 296 flood-affected families in Punjab. It is a grand brotherly gesture from the Turkish people towards alleviating the housing difficulties of the flood affectees of Pakistan.

Today, Sep. 13, 2013, in the inauguration ceremony of this housing project – Allama Iqbal Township the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif will be the chief guest. The Editor-in-Chief and Chairman of the Nazriya-e-Pakistan Council Trust Mr Zahid Malik will also participate in the event on the invitation of Chairman of the NGO Mr Ismail Cingoz.

The Turkish government and the NGOs were the first to reach Pakistan/AJK when eastern and northern regions of Pakistan were devastated by the earthquake of 2005. Turkey had built three destroyed district headquarters of Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot and Bagh in AJK, apart from providing health and educational facilities to the affectees. The then President of Turkey Mr Abdullah Gul had personally visited AJK and northern parts of Pakistan – Balakote and surrounding areas hit by the calamitous earthquake.

African students who have been sponsored by Kimse Yok Mu in their studies in Turkey are worried about the recent government action. The Somali and Congolese students studying in the Kayseri province of Turkey said, “We would not be able to study at high schools and universities in Turkey without Kimse Yok Mu’s assistance. It’s been covering our school, clothing, food, shelter and medical expenses since the beginning.”

Aid organization head blasts terror probe

Turkey was shocked by a terror investigation against Kimse Yok Mu (KYM). According to a statement by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the organization was being probed over its alleged involvement in terrorism during activities during Eid al-Adha.

Indonesia and Turkey: Similar but Different

The Turkish government has been inching ever closer to becoming an Islamist nation, abandoning its secularity that has acted as the foundation of modern Turkey until now. The government’s power is also getting increasingly concentrated in the hands of the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Blanket Drive for Syrian Refugees a Great Success

Paxton Companies estimates 25,000 blankets have been donated and Embrace Relief reports $100,000 in funds have been donated to this cause. Over the past two years more than 40,000 blankets have been collected and $115,000 in funds has been donated. Donations raised for this program will help purchase blankets and supplies in Turkey for the refugees.

Gülen donates $15,000 to Japan victims

Muslim preacher Fethullah Gülen has donated $15,000 to support post-disaster relief efforts in Japan, which was shaken by a magnitude 9 earthquake and tsunamis last week.
