Islamic scholars convene at ijtihad symposium in İstanbul

ISTANBUL
Around 100 Islamic scholars from many parts of the world gathered at İstanbul Congress Center at ijtihad conference organized by Yeni ümit and Hira Magazines.
The two-day long symposium will focus on issues on ijtihad on Islam. Professor Suat Yıldırım will chair the symposium.
In the past three weeks, the AK Party has proposed new laws to increase government controls over judges and prosecutors, and many investigations have slowed down, raising suspicions that the government might be trying to hide something.
