Approval rate of Turkish schools abroad at 78 percent

According to a survey conducted by the International Turkish Association (TÜRKÇEDER), 78 percent of the people in Turkey approve of the Turkish schools abroad.
Research company Veritas conducted a survey in July 2013 with 4,296 people in face-to-face interviews in 42 provinces in an effort to measure the approval rate of the Turkish Olympiads that are organized annually.
Accordingly, 67 percent of the respondents expressed a positive opinion of these language olympiads while only 8 percent expressed a negative view.
The findings of the survey reveal that 86 percent of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) voters among the respondents approve of the olympiads. Among Republican People’s Party (CHP) supporters the rate is 68 percent.
The Turkish Olympiads are considered the most important activity of the Turkish schools established abroad by entrepreneurs affiliated with the Hizmet movement. This movement is inspired by the teachings and ideas of Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen.

International panel on Virgin Mary held in Istanbul
The international panel entitled “The Virgin Mary in the Holy Bible and the Holy Qur’an” jointly organized by Journalists and Writers Foundation’s Intercultural Dialogue Platform (KADIP), Roma Tevere Instituto and Izmir Intercultural Dialogue Center took place in Istanbul. Courts order corrections to gov’t media stories on Hizmet
Several courts have ruled against untruthful stories published or broadcast by media institutions close to the government about the Hizmet movement, which Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has accused of trying to undermine his government, but most newspapers and stations have not published the corrections as they should according to the rulings.
Anonymous witnesses fail to identify suspects they earlier tipped off as Gulenist
An anonymous witness in Denizli failed to identify any of the 145 suspects, earlier accused of being followers of the Gulen movement, during a court hearing on Oct. 30. The judge in charge loudly read the names, however Aslan did not remember any of them. The judge asked: “Did you tip off about some names during your statement to the prosecutor, is that right?”
