Students from Kazakh-Turkish high schools founded by Turkish entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan won 12 medals in the Second Annual International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering & Environment) Project Olympiad (I-SWEEEP 2009) held in Houston on April 15-20.

This year, 600 students from 60 countries participated in the competition, where Kazakh high school students were especially successful, winning three gold, three silver and six bronze medals in the finals.

The teachers and parents of the winners cheerfully welcomed them upon their arrival at Almaty International Airport. Parents particularly thanked the ambitious educators for the efforts they put into preparing their students for success. Today there are 27 such high schools in provinces throughout Kazakhstan, and there is huge demand among the Kazakh public to enroll their children in these schools because of the schools’ adherence to moral values and the high-quality education they offer. Thirty thousand children took this year’s student selection examination, through which 1,500 of them will be offered admission to these schools.

The schools teach in English, Kazakh, Russian and Turkish, and their graduates are highly sought after in both the public and private sectors.
