Kimse Yok Mu extends helping hand to Syrians in Jordan, Lebanon

The Turkish charity foundation Kimse Yok Mu (Is Anybody There) has begun to send aid to thousands of Syrian refugees who have escaped to Lebanon and Jordan from their conflict-stricken homeland.

Tens of thousands of Syrian citizens have taken shelter in the neighboring countries of Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon. The number of Syrian refugees entering Turkey has reached almost 20,000, and these people are being accommodated and provided with basic needs by the Turkish state.

For those sheltering in Jordan and Lebanon, Kimse Yok Mu foundation has launched aid campaigns. A group of Kimse Yok Mu officials have gone to these countries to observe and examine the refugees’ conditions in order to determine their needs. Distributing the aid packages they took with them during their visit, Kimse Yok Mu officials received a lot of gratitude from the refugees, who repeatedly thanked Turkey for its help to Syrians. The officials said that the most urgent needs of the refugees are food, diapers and clothes for babies, blankets and cleaning supplies. The topic of providing education to the Syrian refugee children was recently addressed by a meeting hosted by Kimse Yok Mu, the Journalist and Writers Foundation and the Peace Islands Institute (PII) in a panel held at the United Nations in New York.

Reconsidering Gender Equality and Peaceful Societies

The Journalists and Writers Foundation with its Women’s Platform organized the Annual Istanbul Summit on May 7-8, 2016 in Bangkok, Thailand in partnership with Thailand Achievement Institute. This year’s topic was “Reconsidering Gender Equality and Peaceful Societies.”

Canadian institute honors Kimse Yok Mu

Intercultural Dialog Foundation located in Edmonton, Canada, awarded Kimse Yok Foundation (KYM) in recognition of its international aid efforts. Steve Young and Alana DeLong, two members of Legislative Assembly of Alberta and the foundation’s advisory board at the same time, hosted the award ceremony at Royal Glenora Club, Edmonton.

Lailat al-Miraj marked with prayers for Soma victims across Turkey

After prayers were read for the 301 miners, the Kimse Yok Mu Foundation announced that these miners’ children will be provided with scholarships and educational opportunities. The Kimse Yok Mu Foundation’s Aegean region coordinator, Mesut Arıkanlı, extended the organization’s support to the families of the 301 miners, saying it will always back them.
