Fethullah Gülen’s Statement of Condolences and Condemnation for Manhattan Terrorist Attack

Fethullah Gülen: I am deeply shocked and saddened by the atrocious terrorist attack in Manhattan which resulted in the deaths of eight innocent civilians and left 11 others injured. I strongly condemn this despicable and senseless act of violence.
Every single act of terrorism is a blow to humanity everywhere. This attack was not only against New Yorkers and Americans but against universal human values that we all share. I reiterate my categorical condemnation of all forms of terror and violence, which cannot be justified under any circumstance.
I send my sincere condolences to the victims’ families, loved ones and to all people who call New York home. I pray for the quick recovery of the injured and pray to God the Most Compassionate to lead all humanity to a world of peace and tranquility.
US Rep. Scott: Gülen movement cannot be designated as “terrorist organization”
Congressman David Scott, representing Georgia’s 13th congressional district, has said that Gülen movement cannot and should not be designated as a “terrorist organization” while expressing his concerns over President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s including the movement on the list of “Turkish terrorist organizations.”
Bipartisan think-tank: The U.S. should not interfere politically in Gülen extradition case
If the executive branch were to interfere too forcefully in the Gülen extradition case now, it would only confirm Turkish leaders’ belief that the U.S. system operates on the same corrupt terms as Turkey’s. This would fundamentally affirm Erdoğan’s view that democracy as a value and a practice is a purely cynical discourse used by Western powers to harm Turkey.

This week I was privileged to spend the night at the Pennsylvania compound of Fethullah Gülen, the Sufi influenced Turkish modernist. I had two sessions to ask him questions in front of his followers and was allowed to sit in on his evening meeting with followers as well as attend his two-hour class for his disciples in the morning.

I send my heartfelt condolences to the people of Austria, especially the relatives and loved ones of those who lost their lives. I pray for the quick recovery of the injured.
Celebrating Turkish Cultural Day
Both the Turkish Cultural Center and City Hall were turned into a Turkish festival, complete with music, food, and dancing. The entire local Turkish community, as well as other cultures, took part in the celebration. Organizers say it’s important to make sure everyone feels welcome.
Fethullah Gülen: alleged coup mastermind – and friendly neighbor
Chuck Parker, who lives down the road from Fethullah Gülen, said: “When we have the traditional Thanksgiving, he has a dinner then. He also has a dinner for Ramadan.” He and many other residents have received invitations, which often come with a personal touch. “They usually hand deliver it, or one of the guys bring it over.”
