Enes Kanter Education Fund to award students with scholarship

Date posted: January 6, 2015

Mr. Enes Kanter of the Utah Jazz announced a new education fund he is starting in coordination with Embrace Relief benefiting underprivileged aspiring female university students. Mr. Kanter came to us wishing to give back to this community and help those in need. With the high costs associated with higher education in today’s world, Mr. Kanter and Embrace Relief established an education fund; which this year will award selected students with a $2500 scholarship. He has committed to the program an initial $100 donation every other day over the course of the next 6 months.

The campaign has officially started and we are currently collecting donations. In order to encourage outside contributions, Mr. Kanter has graciously donated over 250 rewards including autographed memorabilia, game tickets and even dinner with himself.

The applications for the scholarships will begin in February and all  awardees  w ill be invited to attend a presentation gala on May 2015. To make a donation and receive the reward (1), please go towww.embracerelief.org/eneskanter. If you’d like to make a donation of a different amount, please go to www.embracerelief.org/donation and click on the Enes Kanter Education Fund.

As always we thank you for your continued support of our organization as we aim to help those less fortunate than ourselves and to give back to our communities.

Embrace Relief, in cooperation with Mr. Kanter, will be establishing a scholarship fund for new college freshmen. As many of you know, Embrace Relief is dedicated to assisting our local communities in need and helping those who are financially struggling.

The cost of higher education in the United States is incredibly high and is only continuing to rise, making it even more difficult for a growing number of people. According to the College Board, the average cost of tuition and fees for the 2013–2014 school year was $30,094 at private colleges, $8,893 for state residents at public colleges, and $22,203 for out-of-state residents attending public universities. For the majority of students, the only way to attend college is through securing student loans which often times only cover the cost of tuition.

There are several expenses that a college student faces other than tuition, including books, school supplies and transportation.

Because of this, Embrace Relief along with Enes Kanter, is starting a scholarship program to offer selected students $2,500 to assist them their first year in college. In order to help as many people as possible, Embrace Relief will be collecting donations towards this scholarship fund from November 1, 2014 through April 31, 2015.
