Ethiopian president hails contribution of Turkish schools to education

Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome said Turkish schools in Ethiopia are considered to be a major contributing factor to the education sector in the country.
“There are Turkish schools [along] with the growing number of international and Ethiopian students in the country. As far as providing quality education, it is helping in the development of education, and we don’t have any problems with the schools,” he added.
The Turkish government attempted last year to shut down Turkish schools abroad that are affiliated with the Hizmet movement, which is inspired by the teachings of Islamic cleric Fethullah Gülen.
The faith-based Hizmet movement administers a wide network of schools and more than 2,000 educational establishments in more than 120 countries around the world. These schools provide an education to thousands of students, and they are well known for their achievements in the International Science Olympiads.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has returned to his agenda of political Islamism since the 2011 elections even though he had rejected it in the past, and he quickly set out to implement his plan to purge the Hizmet movement, a plan he had made long ago.

African queen promises to give support to Turkish schools
Queen Ntombi Twala of Swaziland received a group of teachers from Turkish schools and businesspeople, affiliated with the Hizmet Movement, at her palace. “Success of the schools you established pleased me a lot. If you open such schools in our country, my people will benefit from them,” said Ntombi adding that she promise to support schools which will be opened in her country.
AK Party gov’t treats critical letters, columns as ‘treachery’
In an attempt to defame the Hizmet movement inspired by Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen, the Turkish government and its media outlets have presented letters sent by civil society representatives affiliated with the faith-based movement to foreign officials providing them with information about the situation in Turkey as “treachery.”

Gulen deserves this honour considering the quantum leap in humanity that is tied to his spirit of caring for those in need without any strings attached. He remains the best example of service to humanity in a world running short of caring models.
