Students from West Africa gather at Turkish school in Senegal

DAKAR
Students from west African countries gathered in Senegal’s capital city of Dakar to join Math Olympiads which were organized by Turkish “Yavuz Selim Educational Institutions”.
Turkish Schools continuing to contribute to the educational system of the Dark Continent. “Yavuz Selim Educational Institutions which are operating in Senegal, organized Math Olympiads in Dakar with the participation of students from five neighboring countries.
Speaking at the award-giving ceremony, Senegalese authority responsible for university admission exams Baccalauréat’s director Babou Diaham said that this olympiads is an obvious evidence of how Turkish schools have a vital importance for Senegal.
2 Turkish teachers killed in Somali school bus attack
Two Turkish teachers working in Somalia have been killed along with 4 Somalis after a school bus was targeted. Four Turkish school children were wounded in the attack along with a Kenyan student according to preliminary reports.
Erdogan in Africa: Gulen and trade ties
Erdogan wants the Gulen-linked schools in Africa to be closed down, yet they are the very educational establishments which are popular with Africa’s middle class. They are an inexpensive alternative to French schools. If parents send their children to Turkish schools, it is not because the schools are Turkish, but because they employ good teachers.
