NATO Secretary Rasmussen praises the Turkish schools in Afghanistan

NATO’s Secretary General and Denmark’s former Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen praised the Turkish schools in Afghanistan. Rasmussen, who came to Ankara the other day, during his meeting with the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, brought up this topic, and paid his complements to those schools.

General secretary of NATO thanked Turkey for the support it’s giving to Afghanistan, and added that the education activities, especially, are really beneficial. He also expressed his wishes for these activities to continue. Turkey’s secretary of state Ahmet Davutoglu, and NATO’s general secretary cabinet director Jasper Vakr were also at the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence.

Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan Reject Turkish Calls to Close Gülen Schools

Kazakh authorities said the Gülen schools would remain open. In a statement, the Education Ministry said “These schools (27) will be working as they used to.” The schools were established through a bilateral deal signed by Kazakh president Nursultan Nazarbayev and then-Turkish President Turgut Özal shortly after independence, according to Akipress. Both Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan are remaining firm that they will not bend to Ankara’s will on this issue.

Police, inspectors raid Gülen-inspired schools in Manisa for 3rd time

Police officers and inspectors from 15 government agencies have raided Gülen-inspired private schools in the western province of Manisa for the third time, as part of a government-orchestrated operation targeting the faith-based Gülen movement, popularly known as the Hizmet movement.
