First Lego League qualifier at Brooklyn Amity School

On Saturday, February 4th Brooklyn Amity School became a site where students dealt with all kinds of animals, including alligators, frogs, reindeer, sharks, cows, pandas, bees, and seals. As a host of the First Lego League (FLL) qualifier competition, 11 different schools came to our school. This year, the FLL’s concept was “Animal Allies,” which meant contestants were able to overcome obstacles that involved animals. This allowed students to think and act like scientists and engineers. During the event, each team had two and a half minutes to complete the different challenges. With the autonomous robotsthey built, programmed, and tested, students competed intensely. After several rounds, the day ended with an award ceremony where winners were announced and awarded; our middle school team, for example, won third place and received trophies. The teams who won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will continue on to the next level and use technology and teamwork to solve problems based on real-world situations.
Erdogan wants the Gulen-linked schools in Africa to be closed down, yet they are the very educational establishments which are popular with Africa’s middle class. They are an inexpensive alternative to French schools. If parents send their children to Turkish schools, it is not because the schools are Turkish, but because they employ good teachers. Africa’s middle class want good schools.
‘Turkish people not silly to believe slanderous news about Gülen’
Lawrence E. Carter, the dean of the Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel, stated that a campaign of slander has bene launched against religious scholar Fethullah Gülen and Hizmet Movement but Turkish people are not stupid to believe such defamations.

CHP leader says Erdoğan’s UN speech only served to promote Gülen movement
Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has criticized a speech delivered by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at a UN meeting on Tuesday in which he called on world leaders to take measures against the faith-based Gülen movement, saying that Erdoğan’s speech only served to promote the Gülen movement.
Needy Romanians provided with aid by students of Turkish school
Students studying at International Bucharest College, opened by entrepreneurs affiliated with Hizmet Movement, distributed aid boxes to economically disadvantaged students at the weekend. Arriving at Dambovitsa village, 45 kilometers away from Bucharest, students from 42 different nations went to the houses of the people and gave them aid boxes.
