Fethullah Gülen’s message to Turquiose Harmony Institute “Peace and Dialogue Awards”

Board of Directors, Advisory Board Members and staff of Turquoise Harmony Institute and honorable participants of Ubuntu Lecture and Peace and Dialog Awards, ladies and gentlemen.

All human beings are created equaly by God. The most basic tenets of all religious beliefs are values bestowed upon us by God: such as equality, freedom, dignity, peace and justice.

Although they are most precious to humanity, we have also witnessed a disregard for these values by many throughout our history.

Yet, in such times, we also see people-such as those present in this room-who uphold these values above all and offer hope to our humanity… hope that comes alive when such people engage in positive action… hope that helps us overcome oppression, violence, poverty and diseases that plaque our world.

Such people have the courage to reject discriminations, overcome their adverse environments and through their actions, serve as a role model for thousands of people around the world.

They are often tested by external circumstances, yet they remain in steadfast in their spirit and remain committed to the greater good.

It is people like all of you who promote shared values and mutual respect among fellow human beings and thereby help elevate our society.

I salute your efforts to serving humanity through education, dialogue, tolerance, humanitarian assistance and social justice-and am humbled that you have permitted me to share my thoughts with all of you.

I pray that God the Merciful continue to guide you as you help sow the seeds of love and respect in our world and make it more livable for all.

Fethullah Gülen donates $10,000 for victims of Typhoon Haiyan disaster in Philippines

Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen donated to the Kimse Yok Mu foundation $10,000 for the victims of the Typhoon Haiyan disaster in the Philippines. “According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs [UNOCHA], 4.3 million people have been affected by the typhoon and 330,000 people are now homeless. Ninety percent of the houses in Tacloban city have been damaged,” AFAD stated recently.

Turkey’s Internet watchdog blocks access to website broadcasting Gülen’s speeches

Turkey’s state-controlled Internet watchdog, the Telecommunications Directorate (TİB), has blocked access to herkul.org, a website that regularly broadcasts speeches by Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen.

Gülen endorses reform package, appealing for ‘yes’ on Sept. 12 referendum

Well-respected Turkish intellectual and scholar Fethullah Gülen has said the constitutional reform package to be voted on Sept. 12 contains crucial amendments. Underlining that everyone, including Turkish citizens living abroad, should say “yes” in the referendum, Gülen said, “I wish we had a chance to raise the dead ones from their graves and urge them to cast ‘yes’ votes in the referendum,” as he highlighted the importance of voting in favor of the changes.

INTERPOL and U.S. reject baseless charges against US-based Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen

INTERPOL apparently indicated in its decision that it did not recognize the “parallel structure” as a illegal or terrorist organization. In other words, the charges against Gülen appear to have been fabricated based on his political activity. His case is widely viewed as part of a government crackdown on dissidents and political opposition, as described here. U.S. officials have also thus far refused to extradite Gülen back to Turkey.
