Turkish Schools, Model for Education in Romania

Turkish schools throughout the world have become a model with their successful education vision.

As part of this success, the Lumina Foundation for Education in Romania drew the Romanian Parliament’s attention with its application of Turkish educational practices. The parliament’s education commission chose Turkish Schools as a “model” to base new laws on for private primary and secondary education in Romania.

The deputies invited the administrators of the school, which has been operating in Romania for 12 years, to the parliament to deliver a briefing about the system Turkish schools follow. Views on educational reform in Romania, expected to be accomplished before they enter the European Union, were exchanged.

Despite their short history, Turkish schools have a 100 percent success rate in university admissions; won 61 international awards and 250 awards in national Science Olympics, outpacing the historical Romanian schools.

The deputies discussed the reasons for the success of Lumina Foundation for Education schools, which are the number one choice of the elite and respected classes of society, and reached a consensus to implement the criteria and education system of the school countrywide.

Romanian education commission members asked administrators from the Lumina Foundation for Education to open new branches.

Lia Olguta Vasilescu, Committee for Education, Science, Youth, and Sport Chairperson and Dolj county deputy with the Greater Romania party (PRM), said: “Lumina Foundation for Education Schools have the best schools in Romania. We will always support these schools. They provide every necessary service for students.”

Vasilescu also emphasized the schools’ role in developing the mutual relations of Turkey and Romania.

Model for quality standards

International School of Bucharest President, Fatih Goktas, said Romanian Ministry of Education authorities modeled education standards on Lumina Foundation for Education Schools, creating ISO 9001-ISO 9002 policies, and added it is noteworthy that their schools were selected for the meeting in the parliament.

Pak-Turk schools hold graduates moot

The school administration believes that the action is taken to appease Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who believes that the school promotes and teaches his arch-rival and cleric Fetullah Gulen’s teachings. “We have gone through the school curriculum during our time and have not found them imparting any extremism ideology or anything that goes against the interests of Pakistan,” said one of the graduates.

66,000 students relocated after Turkish government shut down 15 universities over coup charges

Turkish government has closed down 15 universities across the country over their alleged links to the Gulen movement since last summer, leading 66,000 students to look for somewhere else to continue their education.
