Fatih University wins European Universities Championship

The Fatih University basketball team has won the 13th European Universities Basketball Championship, which took place in Slovenia.
The championship, organized by the European University Sports Association (EUSA) and the Slovenian University Sports Association (SUSA), took place in Koper, Slovenia, from June 20 to 27.
Fatih University, which represented Turkey, won its semi-final game against Slovenia’s University of Primorska 74-68.
On Saturday, the Turkish team, which is coached by İsmail Beleş, subsequently won the final against Serbia’s University of Nis with a score of 73-66.
The new champions returned to Turkey on Sunday and were welcomed by friends and family at İstanbul Atatürk Airport.
Fatih University basketball team coach İsmail Beleş spoke to reporters at the airport, saying: “We played six wonderful matches, with only one loss. We beat Serbia in the final and won the championship. We are so happy and we dedicate this championship win to the Turkish nation.”
Gülen slams pro-gov’t media for disseminating lies and blasphemy
Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen criticized on Monday the pro-government media in Turkey for spinning the truth and disseminating lies while trying to justify senior officials’ blasphemous remarks. In a speech published on herkul.org, Gülen said a true believer can never lie as lying is the characteristic of the non-believer.
