Preparations for Turkish Olympiads begin in Morocco

Preparations for the 12 th International Turkish Olympiads have started in Morocco with rehearsals at a Turkish school established by the members of the Hizmet Movement, inspired by the Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen.
Students performed many Turkish songs and poems successfully during the rehearsal at Mohammed Al Fatih School, which is the first Turkish schools established by the Hizmet Movement in Africa in 1994.
Last year, students from 140 countries participated in this year’s 16-day Olympiad, fascinating local audiences with 99 stage shows in 55 cities across Turkey. The 11th International Turkish Olympiad, organized by the International Turkish Education Association (TÜRKÇEDER), is part of Turkey’s annual International Language and Culture Festival. A total of 2,000 students competed in the 2013 Olympiad, which kicked off on June 1 with a grand ceremony at 19 Mayıs Stadium in Ankara and ended on June 16 with the closing ceremony in İstanbul.
A kindergarten built through the efforts of Turkish entrepreneurs in Turkmenistan was opened by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Turkmen President Gurbanguli Berdimuhammedov at a ceremony on Saturday. National Development Requires Peaceful Co-existence
Organized by the Ghana-Turkey Co-operation and Development Association (TUDEC), the Great Volta Foundation Dialogue Centre and the Fountain Magazine, in collaboration with the National Peace Council. The conference stressed that peaceful co-existence is possible only when people learn to accept, embrace and respect one another in spite of their religious and racial differences.
Why should education in Pakistan be held hostage to the politics of other countries, however brotherly?
If Pakistan does indeed give in to pressure from the Turkish government, the move will be ironic, given the number of madressahs currently operating in the country with established links to political, religious or denominational movements that have a more than suspected record of terrorism, violence and spurious religious indoctrination.

Turkish schools in US select Olympiad finalists
