Turkish school sacrifices over 150 cows for Eidil Adha

More than 150 cows were slaughtered yesterday morning by the Filipino Turkish Tolerance School in commemoration of Eidil Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice.

Zafer Elen, school administrator disclosed that the tradition of Eidil Adha or Kurban in Turkish dates back thousands of years when God ordered Abraham to sacrifice his son if he truly loves him.

Abraham tried to slaughter his son but God said he was only testing Abraham’s love for him and so he ordered Abraham to sacrifice a lamb instead, thus the yearly tradition of Muslims all over the world.

The beef, according to Elen, will be distributed to thousands of poor families in various barangays of the city.

He said the money to buy the cows came from donors as far as Turkey, Australia and also in the Philippines.

The cows they purchased came from sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte including Zamboanga City.

Some of the beef will also be given to the Turkish Tolerance School in Manila and they will also be in charge of identifying the beneficiaries.(Nonong Santiago)
