Fethullah Gülen’s Statement of Condolences for Florida High School Shooting

I am deeply saddened by the tragic shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida, that took the lives of 17 people, including teachers and students.
It is heartbreaking to see such a tragedy take place at a school, which should provide a safe environment in which students can learn. We should treat such incidents as reminders to our society for self examination and for identifying and eliminating the conditions that lead a young person to engage in horrifying acts of violence. We should strive to provide a climate of love, respect, and compassion to all of our children and nurture an inclusive mindset.
I express my deepest condolences to all those who lost their loved ones during this tragedy, and to the people of Florida. I pray to God, the Most Compassionate, to provide comfort for the parents who lost their children and to lead our society to days of peace and tranquility.

Gulen’s lectures have inspired business and community leaders to open 135 schools in 26 states. “They’re academically focused. They’re not religious schools. It’s really about building intellectuals, intelligent and business leaders for the future,” Jamie said. Up until now, Gulen remained a mystery to the public and only appeared on video webcasts. Jamie’s interview has served as a bridge for Americans to become acquainted with the reclusive scholar.
Lawyers for Gulen Call Flynn’s Comments ‘Troubling’
Gulen has never been charged with a crime in the U.S., and he has consistently denounced terrorism as well as the failed coup in Turkey. One of Gulen’s lawyers, Jason Weinstein, called Flynn’s comments about Gulen “troubling” but said the extradition process is a legal matter in the hands of the Department of Justice.
