North East Islamic Community Center organizes workshop for volunteers at correctional facilities

North East Islamic Community Center (NEICC) organized an annual Training Workshop for Volunteers at Correctional Facilities on August 6, 2017.

NEICC volunteer community advisor, Halil Atas gave welcoming remarks and an introduction. Chaplain Muhammad Ahmad Salih who works at the New York State Department of Corrections headquarters and Chaplain Fatih Akdemir who works at the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections headquarters presented The Importance of Islamic Guidance for prison inmates and Call for Volunteering at Correctional Facilities.

NEICC’s mission is to serve the religious needs of the local Turkish-American Muslims and Muslims with other backgrounds.

In order to accomplish its mission, NEICC strive to:

–  help Muslims increase their knowledge and understanding of Islam
–  offer resources for those who are interested in learning about Islam
–  support intra and interfaith dialogue among various faith groups

North East Islamic Community Center is a non-profit organization with no political affiliations.
